when i take hazel for walks everything is new to her. grass is as amazing as a monkey or a car. Everything is so exciting, maybe scary, maybe fun, maybe tasty.
it really is a perfect way of viewing the world that i take for granted. today, i noticed on the greenview that a number of houses in a row had different molding next to the window. one was a row of circles, one looked like flowers hanging off of a tree and one like an upside down pine cone.
someone designed them. someone took the time to make small concrete molding to go next to the window just to be pretty.
just to be pretty and I never notice it. hazel would.
i've got to talk less on the phone while we go for our walks. i gotta see more stuff like that.
...and it will decide...
"Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything." Pedro Arrupe, S.J.

Falling in love

A beautiful thought...
“My dear friend, one day you will experience the same emotion after several hours of terrible pains you hear the last cry of the mother and the first cry of the newborn child, then suddenly you see a tiny creature appear, that immortal creature of whom one becomes the guardian. At that moment something terrible and yet supremely sweet occurs in the depths of the soul, not in the metaphorical sense but in a real, physical sense. One feels as if the hand of God is remodelling one inwardly and shaping a new heart within...”
